With its’ genesis in from areas of shale and mudstone, this fine-grained metamorphic rock which separates easily into smooth, flat slabs. Darker in appearance than some other materials, it is available in a range from greys to greens to blues. Popular within a range of uses, such as flooring, paving and as a roofing material are proof of the longevity of slate.
